Berlingieri, Michael - Like many kids growing tip. I looked up to my father. My dad acted as my role model and as I grew older I aspired to be like him. I knew that I wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps and become a lawyer just like he was. I have been accepted into the Bachelor of Commerce and Political Science program at the University of Windsor. I am looking forward to attending in the fall and being able to pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer.

Over the course of the past 7 months I have been given the opportunity to experience first hand what goes on in the day to day operations of a law practice. I have been employed at my fathers law firm which has helped me to solidify my decision to seek a career in law. Above this. I greatly value the time that I have been able to spend, and things that I have learnt while working alongside my dad.  I have always been drawn towards a career in law and Lye chosen this undergraduate program because I know that it will provide me with a challenge while allowing me to reach my full potential Academics have always been a pivotal aspect of my life and I have taken pride in always putting maximum effort into achieving my goals. I have maintained a commitment to prioritize my academic aspirations while being able to balance other aspects of my life.

As a result of my hard work and  commitment to excel in school I have achieved great success in my academics. I am confident that my time at St. Mary's has provided me with a strong foundation and prepared me to be able to succeed in the next chapter of my life. I will take the valuable lessons and work habits that I have learned and continue to apply them in my future.

Gracee Zagordo - I have accepted entrance into the combined Political Science and LLB Program at Wilfred Laurier and The University of Sussex next year, and I couldn’t be more proud of my decision. My work toward making positive change. I have chosen this path to not only make my family proud, but also to work toward changing the stigma around having women in politics and in law.

To conclude, I am excited to go into this next chapter of life with confidence, resilience and the same morals and values that my family has modeled for me.

"Carmen Provenzano Leadership" Award(s)

Adam Morganstern - I have always had a love for the visual arts. It has provided me with a safe space to learn about myself and the world around me. With support and good mentorship along the way, this has developed into a chosen path for me. While I always knew that I wanted to pursue the arts as a career someday, I never knew how that would evolve.  In Grade 10, I got out of my comfort zone to run for the position of student trustee. I’m so grateful that I was elected to this position as it has provided me with so many opportunities for growth. Through my work as a student trustee, I discovered what it means to recognize the needs of others, which changed me as a person.

"Rudy Duschek Scholarship" Award(s) founded by Rudy Duschek

Ailee Iacoe - Ever since I can remember, I have had a dream of owning my own hair salon, therefore when the time came to choose a post-secondary education pathway. I knew right away that hairstyling would be the best fit for me. I have always had a passion for creating things as it allowed me to express myself in different ways. Whether it is through music, writing stories.

acting, or art, being creative has always been a big part of my life.

Through the career of being a hairstylist, not only will I have the opportunity to be creative with my own techniques and styles, but as an entrepreneur, I will also get the chance to design a whole business that suits my style
best.To add, another reason why I am drawn to hairstyling is being able to become my own boss. I love being a leader and I believe that becoming a business owner will allow me to continue to grow my leadership skills. Finally, I have chosen hairstyling as my post-secondary education because I want to help others feel confident. In a world with such harsh beauty standards, it is difficult to see the true beauty within ourselves. Throughout my career, I want to help people express their uniqueness and enhance the natural beauty of others, helping them look, and most importantly, feel their best. I believe that as I grow my career, I will be able to make a difference in how others view themselves as the first step to building confidence is feeling good about being your true self, inside and out.

In conclusion. I know that hairstyling is the perfect course for me because it incorporates multiple areas that I strive in and find myself loving more and more each day.

Noah DeLorenzi - As I prepare for my future, I can certainly see myself in the Business field. Ever since I can remember, I have always been one to accept any challenge and push myself, and in my academics, I have always replicated this. I will further challenge myself at Wilfrid Laurier University in the Business Administration program. Mathematics and Business courses have always been my strength, and by accepting this program,

I know that I can be successful at the next level. I have developed a strong passion for these courses, especially through SMC’s Accounting and Business Leadership courses. Thanks to our great teachers at our school, my passion for these programs has flourished and I am excited to continue fueling this passion. I hope that once I graduate and earn my degree in Business Administration, I can then go on to receive my CPA and become a successful accountant in the future.

"Basilian" Award(s) in Honour of the Basilian Fathers

Lorenzo Bressan - To succinctly describe my future goals, I can only do so justly by expressing how an educa-on in Architectural Engineering at Carleton University is a strong catalyst towards them. As a grandchild of immigrants that came to Canada in search of a beLer life, I recognize that their sacrifices and hard work have allowed me to have the opportuni-es that I have today. They were denied an education beyond Grade 5 and required to work laborious jobs to survive. Despite this, they saw the value in a further education, which is why they instilled an appreciation for education in their children and grandchildren, which is a lesson that has always resonated with me.

Conclusively, with a passion to build things and to work with my hands in the construction industry, as displayed through my experiences as a masonry apprentice, combined with my academic eminence in the subjects of math and physics, an education and career in architectural engineering is undoubtedly appropriate.

Carleton University offers the unique program of Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering which focuses directly on the sustainable construction and restoration of buildings. This specific program offered by Carleton alone would give me the ultimate opportunity to combine my care for the environment, passion to build, and engineering-driven problem solving skills to foster a career that could then be applied holistically to the betterment of my community here in Sault Ste Marie.
